Robots

“Robots”… Does that ring a bell in your head? What are they? They are basically man made electronic machines that can do all those things which humans can and even better than them. They do not need any human guidance to perform their tasks. The main advantage is that robots can work tirelessly unlike humans and that’s why so much of time and money has been invested in their research. They can sense the environment around and act accordingly. They are reliable as nothing can match their accuracy.
Interested in some history?? Here you go… Commercial robots came into existence in the 1900s and the first modern fully programmable robot was called Unimate. It was made by George Devol. There is some mention about a robot even in the English literature. Most of you might have heard of the famous English play The Wizard of Oz in which a character called the Tin Man existed. Although at that time it wasn’t called a robot such fictional characters resembled robots that actually exist today.
Robots are very useful as they have various fields of application. For example manufacturing industries, space research programmes, medicinal research, arms and ammunition, car production, transportation and so on…. There are robots which can be used for cleaning purpose as well. They prove to be the best substitutes for jobs which might prove to be boring or too dangerous to humans. A toy in the form of robots is one of the best ways of imparting education to kids. Some toys do not take into consideration the surrounding environment but these toy robots do. This way there is wider knowledge gathered about a particular subject.
Robots are indeed a boon to us if we use them for a good purpose otherwise they may lead to large scale destruction.
